This product is a high grade slow release fertiliser that conditions the soil, fertilises the plant whilst ensuring an increase in the biological communities that cycle nutrients in the soil.
Super Compost (for trees and shrubs)
The ideal ratio of soil and compost depends on the type of plants you are growing, the condition of your soil, and your personal preference. However, a good starting point is a 3:1 ratio of soil to compost. This means that for every 3 parts of soil, you would add 1 part of compost.
For example, if you are making a potting mix for container plants, you would mix 3 parts potting soil with 1 part compost. If you are amending your existing garden soil, you could add 1 inch of compost to every 3 inches of soil.
Here are some other common soil to compost ratios:
Raised beds: 30% compost, 60% topsoil, 10% perlite/vermiculite
New lawns: 2-4 cm of compost to a depth of 12 cm's
Established lawns: 1/8 to 1/4 inch of compost raked into the grass after aerating it
Trees and shrubs: 9 parts soil to 1 part compost
If you are unsure of the best ratio for your needs, it is always best to err on the side of caution and use less compost. Compost is a slow-release fertiliser, so you can always add more later if needed.
